Treadmill Stress Test

A supervised treadmill test records your heart’s electrical activity, heart rate, and blood pressure as you exercise. These measurements help your cardiologist understand how your heart responds to physical activity.

About this service

During a treadmill stress test, your care team monitors how your heart responds to increasing activity. Sensors record the heart’s electrical signals while blood pressure and symptoms are checked. The treadmill’s pace and incline may change under supervision. Your cardiologist uses the findings with your medical history to help evaluate symptoms or guide care. Tell the team how you feel throughout the test; the exercise plan is based on your abilities and clinical needs.

What to expect

  1. Have monitoring sensors and a blood pressure cuff fitted.

  2. Walk on a treadmill with the care team supervising.

  3. Continue monitoring during recovery and review follow-up.

Before your visit

Ask the office about clothing, footwear, food, drinks, and medications before your appointment. Mention any mobility limitations. Follow the instructions for your own test and do not stop medicines on your own.
