About this service

Holter monitoring records the heart’s electrical activity while you go about your usual activities. Small electrodes connect to a wearable recorder so your cardiologist can review rhythms over a longer period than a resting EKG. You may be asked to note symptoms and what you were doing when they occurred. The recording is reviewed alongside that information. The office will confirm the monitoring period, device care instructions, and how to return the equipment.

What to expect

  1. Have the monitor fitted and learn how to use it.

  2. Record symptoms and follow the device care instructions.

  3. Return the recorder and arrange review of the results.

Before your visit

Ask the office about skin preparation, clothing, bathing, activity, and when the monitor should be returned. Instructions depend on the device. Bring your medication list and follow your clinician’s treatment advice.
